Sharing with you guys my all-time favorite i.e. Apple jelly. #MyMothers’Recipe
Ingredients that you need to make Apple Jelly is:
- Apple 1 kg (2.2 lbs.)
- Sugar half kg, 275 grams (1 & ¼ Cups)
- Water 2 litre
- Lemon Juice 3 tbsp
Wash Apples and peel off its skin.
You can cut almost 8 pieces from 1 apple.
Now take a cheesecloth/muslin cloth and wrap the apples’ skin into the muslin cloth.
In a pot add Apples, its skin and water to the pot and bring it to boil over high flame.
Reduce heat to simmer for approx. 2-3 hours until apple change its color and you left with half of water. Keep stirring in between. Add more water if needed in between.
When Apple juice is ready then pour it into a jelly bag strainer or a simple kitchen fine strainer over a bowl to separate juice. Allow to drain without pressing or forcing juice from the apples for the clearest jelly.
Now combine Apple Juice, Lemon juice and Sugar in a pot and bring to boil over high heat.
Continue to boil until a temperature of 220-degree F is reached.
Test jelly by dipping in a cold spoon. If the jelly drips from the spoon in a sheet, jelly is ready. If not, allow to cook a little longer and test again.
Once the jelly thickens, quickly transfer it into sterilized jars, leaving 1-inch head-space.
Leave it in one side to settle it down properly.
Happy Cooking 🙂
You can store Apple jelly in a cool location up to a year without loss of texture.
