Making Pulao with “Prince of Rice”…

“Pulao”

Yes, the “Prince of Rice” (medium grain rice) is originated from Bangladesh. It is the premium choice of rice in Bengal also known as “Kalijira”. It has deliciously nutty flavor. It has very different aroma. Today, we are making Pulao. “Simple but delicious”.

Ingredients that you need to make Pulao with “Prince of Rice” i.e. Kalijera is:

  • Prince of Rice 250ml i.e. 1cup
  • Onion 2 sliced finely sliced
  • Ghee 3tbsp
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Black pepper 5 to 6
  • Cardamom 3
  • Cinnamon 2
  • Cloves 5
  • Mace a small piece approx. ½ inch!
  • Salt 1 tea spoon or as desired
  • Green Chilies’ 4 slit
  • Ginger Garlic Paste ½ tsb

Directions:

Take a sauce pan. First add Ghee and heat it.

Then add Cinnamon, Bay leaves, Cardamom, Cloves, Black pepper and Salt into the ghee, mix till light golden fry.

Add Green chilies’ and Ginger garlic paste into it. Mix well not more than 1 or 2 minutes.

Add Salt and mix again. Set aside.

Add the Kalijera Rice and fry gently for 3 to 4 minutes on a low flame.

(Remember, here we will not soak our rice.  Just wash them gently and add rice in this step.)

Add water 1 and ¾ cup exact water (means 1 cup and ¼ cup).

When its’ water dry then Cover and steam cook on low flame for 5-8 minutes.

Your simple “Prince of Rice” pulao is ready to dish out!

Garnish with Fresh Coriander leaves.
